Julie Andrews is perfect as the Queen-Grandmother who coaches Mia on royal behavior. Her performance is simply flawless and brings so much more to the movie. Meanwhile, the character of Ryder, that is played by John Travolta, has taken control of the Pelham 1 2 3 train and is holding the train and its passengers as hostages. He demands $10 million in an hour from the mayor of New York and threatens to kill one hostage every minute after the time given to deliver the money is up.

Denzel Washington and John Travolta both live up to their roles by delivering engaging performances. Denzel Washington plays the role of Walter to utmost perfection and brings the low-profile personality to life. On the other hand, John Travolta blends in and becomes the true face of terror by portraying a brutal and extremely clever crook.

Another great performance in the movie was by supporting actor John Turturro who plays the role of Officer Camonetti, the police negotiator. He plays his short role to perfection, (as Ryder only wants to negotiate with Walter and wont talk to anyone else).

You can expect to be swept away by this intense and well edited movie. Viewers are assailed with thoughts of whether or not Ryder will pull the plug on the hostages by shooting them one by one. The movie is this years best portrayal of a hostage scene in a realistic sense thats not over the top.
