Jace Hall is very talented has his hands on everything he does. Not only does he star and hosts his show, he also writes, produces and manages his empire all in one. His successes did not come right off the bat. His passion for gaming started at a young age and from there he went on to do great things in the gaming and video game show industry.

Not only is Jace Hall hosting the show, he also writes, produces and manages the show himself. He also does consultation to other video game companies as well. His successes didn't right off the bat though. Because of his experience and passion for his job, he furthered his career and now is in the entertainment industry. Ever since he was young, he has always had a passion for video games, and up to now, his ideas about gaming are still very much fresh and up to date with the recent changes in the industry.

His biggest accomplishment thus far is, of course, the video game show Jace Hall Show. This is a very prominent and original online reality show which is exclusively aired on Crackle.com and other video game sites. It has garnered such respect and popularity over the last two years and now has approximately 4 million viewers around the world. Being that Jace Hall's company HDFilms Incorporated has a great development with Warner Brothers Studios, its popularity has definitely soared over the internet. They had just finished a very successful second season and is now in the works of getting up and running on its much awaited third season.

The idea of this show came up when Jace Hall was observing the clear cut connection between Hollywood and the ever-emerging and changing video game industry. Since he was both very much involved in his gaming company and the WBIE, he felt that both industries lacked a new flare and fresh look on the video game show circuit. He knew that since he had both the two world son his hands, he would be able to implement these plans and will deem successful. Little did he know that it would reach these great sites, and has now become a household name in the video game show industry world wide. This shows how miniscule ideas can go farther as long as one puts his over-all attention into it. - 30302

Why Women's Tennis Must be Cherished

By Lynn Bromash

Seriously, what's the deal here?

When Steffi Graf dominated the tennis court people didn't appreciate it. When Venus and Serena Williams had been devastating everyone on the path to the championship, the media did not like it. And currently when titles are up for grabs? Tennis lovers don't want it.

The majority admit that the Williams sisters tower over the competition the majority of the time. However physical issues and abridged non-Slam calendar years spell they now play against one another prior to the finals. Though once more we must bear in mind that just a season or two ago the above-mentioned whining concerning this regular encounter in the final round and their governance over the rest of the players.

Well currently we have Dinara Safina boasting the top spot in the ranks and the US Open seedings. And what do people imply? She has not earned it since she has never won a Grand Slam (and she's been defeated in a couple grand slam title of late.) Although she's reaching the slam championship and she is fairly amusing along the way, on the court and off.

Earlier she was forced to fight it out once more, becoming the first number one seed to be defeated in the 1st round. Was it engaging? I thought so. But we will hear all about the inaccuracy of the rankings structure, and so forth.

And then there was Venus Williams last night--furthermore pushed to three sets. Also compelling. (Additionally note that Venus didn't have the winningest of summers post Wimbledon.) However in all likelihood to be heard is the prevalence of injuries among the sisters Williams and their "distractions" off the courts.

Plus now Kim Clijsters is back and as opposed to being extremely enthralled - which one must be because she is friendly and polite and a talented player - people are all saying "all right what does it indicate regarding the women's game that she might come out of retirement and end up with a 6-2 finish during the summer months?"

Well I believe it reveals that she - like she consistently has -trains very well. Also that she is a veteran and she has almost nothing to lose.

So let's just cease all the insulting, please. Yes, there are imperfections in the girls game. (Like the lack of variety in terms of playing technique.) Although I personally like that it is anyone's guess as to who'll be in the finals in under two weeks. And I look forward to witnessing how they end up there. - 30302

The Untapped Potentials of DOOH: Why Does it Work so Well?

By Amy Nutt

New technological developments and changing consumer lifestyles have resulted in fresh creative forms of marketing. One method of advertising that is fast becoming a popular choice for marketers is Digital Out-of-Home Advertising. (DOOH) This method consists of out-of-home advertising in which content and messages are displayed on digital signs. These signs are designed to deliver messages to targeted locations at specific times of the day and night. Businesses are now finding that DOOH has a number of benefits.

The following list outlines why DOOH works so well:

1. Research has revealed that DOOH advertising is able to attract consumers' attention far better than traditional methods of media such as television advertising, internet marketing and advertising, newspapers, magazines, and radio. OTX (Online Testing exchange) conducted a national survey with consumers where people reported that "this media was one of the most unique and entertaining ways to capture their attention." As well, consumers are responding positively to DOOH. The Edison Media Research group reports that "reaching mobile consumers in multiple places during their weekly routines resulted in 59% of respondents who saw the ad reporting that they were interested in learning more about the service."

2. Digital OOH advertising provides businesses with flexibility and the ability to target specific consumers. As well, they have the ability to target consumers outside of their homes and offices. Businesses can deliver appropriate advertisements based on where the digital screen is located. This can include gyms, schools, fitness centers, supermarkets, clothing stores, malls, theaters, coffee shops, etc. Advertisers have reported that moving images, inventive ad copy, shorter ads, and the ability to advertise in normally inaccessible areas, are capturing the attention of more consumers.

3. Advertisers can place digital advertising in specific areas in a particular location. For instance, they can be placed in a specific department of a large store where the advertisements can reflect the products that are being sold. POPAI research has shown "that as many as 70% of buying decisions are made in a store."

4. Advertisers can place screens in areas that contain a particular demographic. This can include schools where young people spend a lot of time or Bingo halls where a large number of senior citizens spend time. When correctly targeted with the appropriate information, it can result in increased sales. As well, businesses can keep their customers up-to-date on products and services by updating their ads on a regular basis.

5. DOOH is very cost effective. Advertisers will spend less because they are reaching their targeted audience instead of a broad audience. As a result, advertising waste is decreased.

In an effort to keep up with changing advertising methods, businesses have had to stay up-to-date on current consumer points of view, technology, and lifestyles. Digital OOH is one marketing method that more businesses are tapping into as the results have revealed success. DOOH allows customers to interact with the company's brand messages in a personal and productive way, as well as allowing advertisers to engage consumers where it is a most suitable setting for them. Businesses are now seeing an increase in sales and more connected customers. Digital out-of-home advertising is one method that is fast becoming an efficient and effective marketing tool. - 30302

The Legacy Of Japan's Pro Wrestling Icon Mitsuharu Misawa

By Ross Everett

Mitsuharu Misawa died in Hiroshima, Japan earlier this year less than a week before his 47th birthday. He was in a tag team match for his Pro Wrestling NOAH promotion with Go Shiozaki against Bison Smith and Akitoshi Saito. Saito hit a back suplex on Misawa, which appeared to knock him unconscious. Medical staff attempted to revive him in the ring, but when CPR failed he was taken to a hospital by ambulance. He never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead on arrival.

Thats at least a small bit of solace amid the tragedy of Misawas death"he died in the ring doing what he loved, and what he did better than just about anyone on the planet. Not like Owen Hart died in the ring, doing a stupid stunt in a silly character that he was reportedly assigned as punishment for refusing to go along with a storyline he felt demeaning, but working the kind of brutally stiff, athletically realistic match that got a generation hooked on Japanese wrestling.

A top level amateur wrestler in high school, his skill gained the attention of All Japan Pro Wrestling president Shohei Giant Baba. Three years after his pro debut, he got his first big break in 1984 when he was chosen as the second Tiger Mask replacing Satoru Sayama. In 1990, he had his longtime friend and rival Toshiaki Kawada unmask him.

Misawa would wrestle as himself from then on, and become an even bigger star in the process. In June, 1990 he became one of the top stars in All Japan Pro Wrestling when he defeated Jumbo Tsuruta. That match was his first main event appearance at the venue Cheap Trick made famous in America, the Nippon Budokan. He soon faced Triple Crown Champion Stan Hansen in an unsuccessful challenge for the title, and would become arguably the biggest native star in Japanese pro wrestling for the next decade.

Hed have legendary battles against Kawada, Hansen, Kenta Kobashi, Jun Akiyama and Steve Dr. Death Williams in singles competition. Hed also become a force on the tag team scene along with Kawada facing Williams and Terry Gordy along with Tsuruta and Akira Taue. Misawa would continue as a mainstay in AJPW until the early part of this decade. After the death of Giant Baba, he left to establish Pro Wrestling NOAH. He would serve as the companys president while wrestling a full time schedule until his death.

Japanese pro wrestling served as a gateway drug for many into shoot fight sports and MMA. Before the Internet, fans would trade videotapes to stay up on the latest matches from Japan and along with Jushin Thunder Liger and The Great Muta Keiji Mutoh it safe to say that Misawa is one of the wrestlers most responsible for getting a generation of American fans hooked on the product. For American fans at the time"and with the WWE at its creative low point"the All Japan and New Japan Pro Wrestling product was nothing short of a revelation. - 30302

The Ultimate Street Fighter: Kimbo Slice

By Ross Everett

Throughout its history, the UFC done a good job balancing serious competitors with 'sideshow acts' designed to pull in viewers. While its debatable that the UFC has the best heavyweight in mixed martial arts, they may soon have the most famous. Dana White announced recently that Kimbo Slice will be a contestant on season 10 of the UFCs MMA reality show The Ultimate Fighter. A good performance there could see him get a shot at fighting for the promotion.

In the past, Dana White has dismissed Slice and suggested that the only way hed ever fight in the UFC is by winning The Ultimate Fighter. Kimbo will get the opportunity to do just that and could deliver the highest rated season in series history. For Kimbo (real name Kevin Ferguson) it is yet another strange twist in his bizarre career as a professional fighter. Slice first made his name fighting in non-sanctioned street fights to supplement his income as a bodyguard for a Miami based adult film production company. At some point, Kimbos entourage started bringing video cameras to his fights and the footage found its way onto the Internet.

Kimbo quickly became an online cult hero before he officially turned pro as a fighter. He began to train under MMA legend Bas Rutten and made his debut in an exhibition against former heavyweight boxing champ Ray Mercer. Kimbo won a dominating victory, and his meteoric rise to superstardom was underway. Not long after, he signed with EliteXC and they quickly made Kimbo the centerpiece of their promotion. While building a MMA promotion around a fighter with almost no experience likely led to their downfall, at the time Kimbo became a media sensation and Elite XC parlayed his popularity into a prime time network TV deal with CBS.

Kimbo's career was moving along nicely, until a fateful fight on an Elite XC nationally televised CBS card. Kimbos fourth fight was originally scheduled to be against former UFC mainstay Ken Shamrock, but due to a last minute injury he eventually faced substitute Seth Petruzelli. Petruzelli caught Kimbo with a perfectly placed counter right hook and knocked him out. That was the beginning of the end for Elite XC, and the promotion was out of business in a matter of weeks.

Following the demise of Elite XC Kimbo kept a fairly low profile. He made a few appearances in a promotional capacity for the K-1 kickboxing organization in Japan while considering his next career move. UFC president Dana White would occasionally be asked if hed ever have an interested in Kimbo, which hed dismiss with the offhanded suggestion that the only way hed fight in the UFC was to compete in The Ultimate Fighter reality show.

While its unclear when that off-handed dismissal by White became a viable reality, but regardless of how the deal came together Kimbo will be a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter. Its really a no-lose proposition for the UFC"if Kimbo doesnt do well, they were right all along and if he *does* do well they can make some money with him. In any case, the media coverage and ratings for their MMA reality show will likely be at an all time high. - 30302

UFC 99: Rich Franklin Tops Wanderlei Silva In Thrilling Main Event

By Ross Everett

From a business standpoint, the UFCs first trip to Germany will clearly fall short of their success in the UK. From poor ticket sales to a downright hostile German media, its been one headache after another for Dana White and company. The UFC 99 card itself turned out to be an entertaining affair highlighted by a spectacular main event between Rich Franklin and Wanderlei Silva. Franklin would ultimately win the unanimous decision victory, but the fight itself far exceeded the expectations of most fans.

For the most part, Franklin picked Silva apart throughout the course of the fight (to quote UFC color commentator Joe Rogan) and deserved the unanimous decision verdict. What made the fight exceptional were the occasional glimpses of the old Axe Murderer. Late in the second and third rounds, Silva tagged Franklin with hard punches that left him clearly stunned. He did well to weather the storm and maintain control of the fight, but the uncertainty was enough to make the main event a very entertaining and exciting fight. Silva demurred on talk of retirement afterwards, though his tone gave some indication that hes leaning in that direction.

In the co-main event, heavyweight phenom Cain Velasquez survived a few nervous moments to put in a wall to wall domination of Cheick Kongo. Velasquez was rocked by Kongos punches early in rounds one and two, but quickly recovered to take the fight to the ground where he mauled the Frenchman. The result was an impressive victory for Velasquez over a top level opponent, but his struggles against Kongos standup game left several unanswered questions. The most compelling concern, of course, is that Velesquez might have a weak chin and simply not be able to take a punch particularly well. His problems could also be tactical or simply a case of not having enough patience"rushing his takedown attempts and eating punches rather than work for a less risky opportunity.

The event also featured the UFC return of former PRIDE open weight GP champion Mirko Cro Cop. Cro Cop was making his return to action from knee surgery, and the Croatian striking machine got off to a slow start against overmatched Mostapha Al-Turk as he clearly sought to protect his rebuilt wheels. Of particular note was the fact that Cro Cop didnt throw a kick the entire fight"his bread and butter during his PRIDE dominance, which evoked the mantra right leg hospital, left leg cemetery. Once he let his hands go, however, he demonstrated emphatically that hes still got serious power. He ended the fight late in the first round by flooring Al-Turk with an overhand left followed up with some hammer fists on the ground.

Perennial contender Mike Swick looked impressive as he defeated Ben Saunders via 2nd round TKO. After an uneventful first five minutes, Swick let his hands go and his impressive handspeed proved no match for his adversary. Veteran lightweight Caol Uno returned to the UFC after a five year absence, losing a decision to Spencer Fisher in a somewhat tedious tactical affair. In the opening match of the live PPV, Dan Hardy won a hard fought split decision over Marcus Davis. The two men had feuded back and forth in the UK media, and while the fight may not have settled their differences in a decisive manner it did provide a solid opener to the evenings fight card. - 30302

The Huntington Beach Bad Boy Returns To The UFC

By Ross Everett

According to the old saying time heals all wounds. In the fight game, money"or the potential of it"has the same curative effect. The latest evidence of this is the announcement that Tito Ortiz has patched things up with Dana White and agreed to a new contract to fight in the UFC. Tito left the promotion over a year ago after an acrimonious split with White, though never found a new promotional home that would give him the money and the high profile status that he craved.

Ortiz has had several run ins with the UFC over their notoriously tight pay structure, and first left the promotion in 2005. He was back later that year for a run as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter against longtime rival Ken Shamrock. After losing to current light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida in his last UFC appearance, he left the company and bounced around in a promotional capacity. He had surgery on his back in the process, and now claims that hes back to 100%.

Whether or not Ortiz is near his top form as a competitor is of secondary importance to the UFC since his true value has never been questioned"people will pay to see him fight. Ortiz is a fighter that offers no middle ground of public opinion, as people either love him or hate him. That dynamic is box office and PPV gold, a fact not lost on the savvy UFC brass. Dana White evoked the same theme in his comments on Ortiz at a Friday press conference in Las Vegas:

"Tito and I have a history that everyone knows. He's still a guy that everyone wants to see fight. He said his back has healed perfectly and he's ready to take a shot at the title. He's one of those guys that people love and people love to hate. We've put all our differences aside, have squashed everything and will move forward, and Tito will retire in the UFC."

To which Ortiz offered this response:

"Time really cures everything. Dana was a man of his word. Dana apologized to me. We're like boyfriend and girlfriend."

Ortiz indicated that White and UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta came to his home in Huntington Beach, California and made him the proverbial offer he couldnt refuse:

"I'm happy, I'm satisfied, You'll never hear anything about money again.

While both Ortiz and White said that he'd be back in the octagon 'ASAP, neither man gave much in the way of specifics. Sources suggest that he could debut on the UFCs New Years card against Mark Coleman. Coleman is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Stephan Bonnar at UFC 100 in mid July.

To best understand Titos appeal and why the UFC was so anxious to re-sign him, well paraphrase HBO boxing commentator Larry Merchant. Merchant once noted in reference to George Foreman during his 'comeback' that there are many fighters, but very few stars. Like George Foreman, Tito Ortiz is a star. Some love him, some hate him but people pay to watch him fight. - 30302

UFC Pioneer Kimo Leopoldo Victim Of False Death Reports

By Ross Everett

Pioneering UFC fighter Kimo Leopoldo is very much alive after numerous mainstream media reports to the contrary. The New York Daily News was first to report the story that Kimo had died of a heart attack, and it quickly spread to other mainstream media outlets. MMA insiders were somewhat skeptical, a there were few details as to the circumstances surrounding his passing, or any real independent confirmation.

A few hours later, the story began to unravel. First, Kimo's agent indicated that he had spoken to him at 11 PM Monday night and that he was alive and well. He did add that he hadnt spoken to him since, but that he had not received word from anyone close to Kimo of a problem nor had he been contacted by any authorities. Shortly after 2:00 PM Tuesday, Kimos attorney reported that the fighter had been located and was alive and well. Theres still a question of how the report that he was dead made it out in the first place, but the New York Daily News isnt providing much of an explanation--theyve simply deleted the report without comment and will presumably pretend it never happened.

The false death rumors are the most recent twist in the bizarre life of Kimo Leopoldo. A native of Munich, Germany, Kimo--he claimed later in his life that he had legally changed his name to simply 'Kimo'--was the UFCs first over the top personality back when the promotions events were still in the single digits. He burst onto the scene at UFC 3 when"in his pro MMA debut"he gave the legendary Royce Gracie a brutally tough battle. Gracie had won the tournament style format at UFC 1 and 2, and managed to eventually defeat Kimo via armbar submission but took so much of a beating that he was forced to forfeit his UFC 3 final against Harold Howard.

Kimo compiled a solid record in the sports early years. By the end of 1997, he had compiled a 6-2-1 record with his only losses coming to Gracie and another UFC Hall of Famer, Ken Shamrock. He also earned a draw against a third UFC Hall of Famer, wrestling specialist Dan Severn. His career would tread water from that point, however, as a result of increasingly better fighters entering the sport and the collateral damage of Kimos own often questionable lifestyle choices. His last fight was in 2006, a loss to veteran Wes Sims.

To early UFC fans, Kimo became known as much for his flamboyant personality as for his toughness as a competitor. He was a devout Christian, and sported many religious tattoos--most famously a large 'Jesus' inscription across his stomach. In an era characterized by low key ring walks, Kimo caused a stir when he entered the octagon at UFC 3 bearing a life sized wooden cross.

Kimo has battled drug and alcohol addiction throughout his life, and in recent years has reportedly became addicted to meth. In one of his more recent run ins with the law, he was playing with a yo-yo in a parking lot while wearing an orange jumpsuit made for law enforcement disaster response. He was approached by police who questioned him about the outfit, and upon searching him he was found to be in possession of marijuana and subsequently arrested. - 30302

Bobby Lashley Returns To Pro Wrestling

By Ross Everett

Not long after his demolition of Japanese pop culture icon Bob Sapp, fformer WWE superstar turned MMA fighter Bobby Lashley announced that he had signed a deal to return to full time professional wrestling competition with the US #2 promotion TNA. Lashleys last in-ring pro wrestling appearance came in Mexico on a show for Lucha Libre promotion AAA.

Hes not planning to give up his MMA career. In interviews prior to the TNA signing Lashley left open the possibility of a return to pro wrestling for its significant financial upside, while remaining committed to his shoot fighting efforts. Lashley trains in Florida with the prestigious American Top Team, and ran his record to 4-0 with his victory over Sapp in late June. A press release issued by TNA this morning further validated his suggestions that he planned to do both sports. Lashey himself is quoted as saying:

I want to do both because I can. TNA is giving me the opportunity to compete in both sports which I have a passion for. I will bring MMA fans to wrestling and wrestling fans to MMA

TNA President Dixie Carter noted:

This is a great opportunity for Bobby to do something that has never been done before. He is the perfect ambassador for both sports. We are excited to have him join TNA, he is a true star that brings so much to the table as a member of our roster.

TNAs claims that Lashley is the first active MMA fighter to compete full time in pro wrestling, however, is nothing but hyperbole. Its very common in Japan, though the Japanese fans for whatever reason are better able to compartmentalize an athlete competing in shoot fights like MMA while simultaneously appearing in worked (eg: pre-determined) pro wrestling contests. In fact, Josh Barnett, originally slated to face Fedor Emelianenko at the ill fated Affliction: Trilogy event still makes several appearances a year for Antonio Inokis Inoki Genome Federation (IGF) promotion. Lashley isnt even the first to pull the feat in the US, though hes definitely the highest profile fighter/wrester to turn the trick since MMAs overwhelming boom in popularity. Dan The Beast Severn at one point simultaneously held the UFC heavyweight title and the NWA heavyweight title in pro wrestling.

Lashley abruptly left the WWE in early 2008 under some degree of controversy. He indicated at the time that his departure was not of his own volition but due to circumstances beyond his control. Making this assertion more curious was the fact that Lashley had been used in high profile storylines by the WWE and was very popular among fans. Unlike most wrestlers leaving the promotion Lashley wasnt subject to a standard non-compete agreement. There has been speculation that he may have left in response to a racial incident, though neither Lashley nor the WWE has ever confirmed the reason for his departure.

At the time he was released from the WWE, Lashley began training for MMA building on an extensive background of amateur wrestling from both college and the military. The UFC took a pass on Lashley due to the perception that they couldnt market him successfully so soon after Brock Lesnars debut. - 30302
