The Hurt Locker Free Movies

By Kolby Jonas

When we try to sit and count the number of female action directors in the United States, we realize that the choice to give Kathryn Bigelow the honor of being the best female action director was completely justified. She was given this for the famous movies she directed in the 90's. Now with her return with The Hurt locker, she is all set to remind people why she has got that title for herself. All the experience of film making is put into this movie.

The immediate reaction when people hear that the Hurt Locker is a film based on Iranian war is that they start thinking its something to do with the politics of that country. This is not a movie of that kind. This movie could have been located anyone under different circumstances. The main spotlight is on the Americans in Iran and their day to day feelings. The cost of living too has been shown to be ever increasing in the movie which is the truth of life as of today.

The one aspect that is appreciated about this movie is that it is to the point. It does not run round and round the bush. It introduces all the characters in the first scene itself. They are supposed to be part of a team that is called on for disposing bombs. They are part of a company that is names Brave. These characters are thorough professionals in what they do and have been trained on various explosive devices. The team is trying to dispose a bomb in the first scene of the movie. The team has quite a few members including Sgt. Thomspson (Guy Pearce) as the head, Sanborn (Anthony Mackie) as the vigilant one and Elderidge (Brian Geraghty) as the new member on the team. This scene somehow depicts the entire movie's story line.

Later in the movie Sgt. James takes the place of Sgt. Thompson and suddenly Sgt. Thompson looks nothing but a scared and nervous person. On the flip side Sgt. James throws caution to the wind and implements his own standards of safety that he had learnt through his experience. Sanborn and Elderidge succumb to his attitude.

As the movie progresses there are a number of incidents that keep taking place. Majority of these incidents seem quite similar to the first scene portrayed. The movie slowly takes us deeper and deeper in to Sgt. James's head to know his obsession with danger.

The encounters in the movie are built in a very episodic manner. The best part about this is that the suspense is still maintained. Bigelow's idea to use hand held camera's to produce gritty scenes worked extremely well. The end is a bit unsatisfactory. The way the story was built up becomes it weakness and then the end that was chosen just seems dull and lifeless. Ending the movie with two speeches was not such a good idea after all. - 30302
