This fast paced movie revolves around a bus going around the city at high speed, but you might wonder whats so special about that. The deal is that a psychopath has planted a bomb on the bus and the bus cannot stop, otherwise it will blow up in pieces.

Howard Payne the citys most notorious maniac, played by Dennis Hooper, is back with a vengeance as his last attempt to terrorize the city failed. He manages to plant a bomb on a bus and this one of a kind bomb will only get activated if the bus travels faster than 50mph, once activated the bomb will blow up if the speed falls below 50 mph. This cool concept grips the audience throughout the movie as the bus passes a number of hurdles including a fantastic jump over a partially constructed flyover.
Sandra Bullock plays the role of Annie Porter who is just a regular commuter on the bus and has to take control of things without any prior notice when the driver of the bus gets shot. She plays her role extremely well while keeping the bus moving above the 50 mph. She comes across as a tough yet emotional person, as once she thinks she has banged into a baby stroller killing the baby. This leaves her distraught with grief and she lets go off the steering before realizing there was no baby in the stroller.
The protagonist of the movie is none other than the Keanu Reeves who plays the role of Officer Jack Traven. He has been on the lookout for Payne for a while and Payne actually sets Officer Jack up to this task as he had ruined the maniacs last effort. Keanu Reeves fits into the role of a cop perfectly and comes up with some stunning and scary looking stunts, especially the one where he has to go under the moving bus to try to defuse the bomb.
Overall, the movie is a combination of great acting by the lead stars and amazing action scenes provided by director Jan de Bont. Right from the first scene to last the movie provides sheer adrenaline.
