Jason: The Longest Living Slasher Lives On In New DVD Releases

By Mayer Brady

If you are in the mood for some blood and gore this Halloween, then you'll want to see the famous slasher flick of all, Friday the-th on the big screen. That date is significant because Jason Voorhees witnessed his mother's beheading by a camp counselor at Camp Crystal Lake in the year'80.

The movie picks up thirty years later and apparently Jason's been stewing on revenge for his mother's beheading. His murderous rampage focuses on an unfortunate group of young friends that come to vacation on the legendary and beautiful Camp Crystal Lake.

Camp Crystal Lake's wooded beauty now turns dark bloody red and the suspense will keep you on the edge of your chair. Jason seems to be more cunning than ever before and this flick is sure to have your arm hairs standing straight up.

Producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form were challenged in the casting of this movie because they needed thirteen young actors as opposed to the five that were in Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Thirteen young actors were cast and recast until Fuller and Form could find thirteen that could work well together. It was a difficult task and so much so that these actors were not established until the very start of the movie.

Derek Mears does a great job playing the role of adult Jason, as does Caleb Guss who plays the young Jason Voorhees. Also applauds goes out to Jared Padalecki for the leading male role, and Amanda Righetti for the leading female role.

The final group of young actors include: Jonathan Sadowski, Danielle Panabaker, Julianna Guill, Aaron Yoo, America Olivo, Van Winkle, Nana Visitor and Richard Burgi as the sheriff.

If you're thirsting for a blood and guts slasher movie this Halloween then Jason delivers in this Friday the-th revision. It'll keep you on the edge of your seat that's for sure. The producers of this movie will continue to make sequels for years to come. - 30302
